From day one, Dog Mountain was intentionally designed with health and wellness as a priority. Owners Bo and Paul took a hands-on, research-driven approach while planning and building the facility. They evaluated every major system and operational decision through the lens of long-term pet safety and comfort.
Rather than relying solely on industry norms, they studied best practices in pet facility design, sanitation, airflow, humidity control, and environmental wellness. Their philosophy has always been simple: if there’s a way to create a healthier, more comfortable environment for pets, it’s worth doing.

A Strong Foundation: Our ERU Air Filtration System
As part of this commitment, Dog Mountain is equipped with an ERU (Energy Recovery Unit) air filtration system. This system continuously brings in fresh outdoor air, filters it, and circulates it throughout the facility while managing humidity levels.
In a busy pet care environment, proper ventilation matters. Dogs are active, social, and constantly moving through shared spaces. As a result, air can quickly become stagnant without the right systems in place. The ERU system helps reduce odors, manage humidity, and limit the buildup of airborne particles that naturally occur in a facility full of happy, playful dogs.
For Dog Mountain, installing an ERU system wasn’t an optional upgrade. It was a foundational decision made to support respiratory comfort, overall wellness, and a healthier indoor environment for both pets and staff.
Taking It Further With Advanced Air Scrubbing Technology
Because Dog Mountain believes in proactive, layered protection, we’re now enhancing our air quality even further. We’re adding advanced air scrubbers throughout the facility to provide an additional level of environmental care.
Unlike traditional filtration systems, air scrubbers actively work within occupied spaces. They help reduce airborne contaminants such as bacteria, viruses, allergens, dander, mold spores, and odors. In addition, they can assist in improving overall surface cleanliness.
By combining our ERU system with air scrubbing technology, we create multiple layers of protection that work together at all times. This approach reflects the same research-based mindset that shaped the original facility design. After all, pets can’t tell us when something feels off—which is why proactive decisions matter.
